An Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held for Darrell Jared Burt, son of Darrell and Michele Burt and brother of Marcie Burt, at Chester Frost Pavilion.

Jared is a member of Troop 219 of Soddy Daisy, and is at senior at Soddy Daisy High School.

For his Eagle Scout project Jared wanted something that was needed by the community and something that would last.  Ranger Daniel Basham suggested several projects and Jared chose to build a 30-foot bridge on the Cumberland Trail, Three Gorges Trailhead, above Soddy Daisy.

Jared studied and measured other bridges on the trail to design and calculate the materials needed. The base of the bridge was 2 30-foot telephone poles. After one day of pre-cutting and numbering the boards, Jared and Troop 219 built the bridge March 29-30.

Jared said he is very grateful to his family, friends, and Troop for all of their assistance in completing this project.

After graduation Jared plans to study in the field of Forestry, Conservation, and Wildlife Management to become a Ranger with the state or National Park Service.
